Every Spot You Must Visit at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

I have been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter too many times to count. I know all of the best places to visit while there. If you’re looking for the most magical rides, shows, and drinks, this is the place to be. If you have a limited amount of time to explore the Wizarding World, travel to all of the places I have listed before doing anything else. Trust me… I’m a Wizarding World expert.

Wyndham’s Theater & Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain is located outside of Diagon Alley. Make a wish into the fountain or sit at a nearby bench and take a break from all of the excitement.
Head to Hogsmeade for the Frog Choir and Triwizard Spirit Rally. Diagon Alley hosts Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees and The Tales of Beedle the Bard. All four shows tell exciting tales of the Wizarding World.
Take a walk through Gringotts and watch the goblins hard at work. After walking through the cavernous passageways, you’ll be ready to take a ride on the adventurous rollercoaster. Make sure to watch the dragon on top of Gringotts blow fire after getting some ice cream at Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlor.
Hogwarts is the most magical experience you’ll have at the Wizarding World. While walking through the castle, you’ll encounter talking pictures, Dumbledore, and the Sorting Hat. During the ride you’ll fly with Harry and Ron from a dragon, play in a quidditch match, and escape from the Dementors.
Enjoy some of the most amazing drinks you’ll ever have at the Wizarding World. I recommend Fishy Green Ale and Peachtree Fizzing Tea. Nothing will be better than a cold glass of Butterbeer, though.
Take a ride on the Hogwart’s express, and board at Hogsmeade or King’s Cross Station in London where you’ll be able to walk through Platform 9 ¾. You’ll get a different experience on both train rides, so make sure you take a ride each way.
At Gringotts Money Exchange in Diagon Alley, you can exchange U.S. currency for Gringotts bank notes. Ask the goblin behind the counter any question you want, and he will answer.
Have a chat with the talking head and driver of the Knight Bus parked on the London Embankment. Peer through the windows and you’ll see curtains, beds, and a chandelier. If you go to the back of the bus, you can step up inside and get a closer look at the decor.
The Magical Menagerie pet shop in Diagon Alley has a boa constrictor that will speak to you in Parseltongue and English. It helps if you can speak Parseltongue to him in return.

Imagine The Possibilities With Barbie

Mattel created this Barbie ad over two years ago. Today, it has more power than it ever did then. In today’s country, it seems that, as a society, we are taking huge leaps backward instead of forward. Women everywhere are being objected, told they are inadequate, and faced with daily challenges that men will never have to encounter.

For example, the Trump administration just announced that they will roll back the federal requirements for birth control to be covered by employers’ health insurance plans. Employers can now state moral or religious objection, leaving many women without free birth control. This is a problem. Some women use it for medical reasons such as acne or controlling heavy periods and cramps. Some women use it for sex because they want to. It’s that simple.

This Barbie ad is something every woman should watch, no matter their age. It shows us that there are girls out in the world that are dreaming big even if other people tell them it’s not possible. If young girls can do it, so can we. We need to keep fighting for what every person on this planet deserves: equal rights. I want my children to grow up in a world where boys and girls are treated equally, men and women are treated equally, white people and people of color are treated equally. We’re all humans at the end of the day. No one should have more rights than another human based on their gender, skin color, beliefs, etc.

I want to thank Mattel for making me feel a little bit better today. I would love to see more videos like this come from them. As a brand that influences so many young people, I think it is their duty to help better the children they sell products to. Mattel has such a huge influence on kids today, and to see them do nothing with that agency would be disappointing.

Let’s keep fighting the good fight. Let’s keep marching in protests and demanding equal treatment. Don’t let some idiot in the White House tell you what you can and cannot do with your body. If he gets to take his Viagra for free, then why the hell can’t we have birth control for free. Whenever you need a little reminder that you can do anything, go back to the Barbie ad and watch how those little girls own their persona. Don’t give up.

5 TV and Movie Characters to be this Halloween

1. Wonder Woman

There’s a reason why this record-breaking movie is at the top of my list. Wonder Woman is the highest-grossing film in the DC Extended Universe which has made over $400 million. This summer blockbuster deserves some serious recognition, so thank the lovely ladies that made this film possible (AKA director, Patty Jenkins and actress, Gal Gadot) and dress up as the most important superhero – Wonder Woman.

2. Classic Pennywise the Dancing Clown

Bill Skarsgård was a phenomenal Pennywise, but Tim Curry will always be the OG, child-eating monster. While everyone else is trying to pull off the modern and more complex clown look, kick it old school with 90s Pennywise. It’s just some white paint, a classic red nose, red hair, and a little eyeliner.

3. Eleven from Stranger Things

Who is excited for season two of Stranger Things?! What better way to honor your favorite Netflix kids than by dressing up as the best character – Eleven. All you need is a blonde wig and some Eggo Waffles. Sounds pretty good to me! Grab a friend or two and dress up as Joyce Byers and Barb. Let’s be honest Barb is the best character. Just be Barb.

4. Prisoner from Orange is the New Black

Netflix coming through again with those bingeable TV shows. This is a super easy costume that could be done last minute. I know you promised yourself last year that you weren’t going to wait until the last minute again, yet here we are… It’s okay! Procrastination is your middle name, and sometimes you just have to own it. Thankfully, Orange is the New Black is still in, and so is your costume.

Lucky for you there’s a DIY prisoner costume here.

5. Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction

Ah, the classic costume that every girl is bound to wear at some point in her life. Why not make it this year? Becoming Mia Wallace will definitely make you feel like a total badass. It’s probably the wig. Like they say, new wig, new woman. Does anyone say that? One thing, don’t let the wig take over because you might have a terribly embarrassing Betty Cooper moment.

The Good Doctor Pilot Review

As a huge fan of Bate’s Motel, Freddie Highmore is on my must watch list for fall TV shows.  The Good Doctor is about, as IMDB’s synopsis states, “A young surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome is recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital. The question will arise: can a person who doesn’t have the ability to relate to people actually save their lives?”

I was impressed with Highmore’s portrayal of a young doctor with autism. He was believable throughout the episode. Highmore’s acting ability is not what went wrong in this pilot. That spot belongs to the rest of the characters in the show.

First, I want to say that I was very excited about the diversity on this cast. Nicholas Gonzalez (Pretty Little Liars; The Flash), Antonia Thomas (Misfits; Northern Soul), Chuku Modu (Game of Thrones; Snatch), and Hill Harper (CSI: NY; Homeland) are all non-white lead actors on The Good Doctor. The other three actors that are in all six episodes are Freddie Highmore, Beau Garrett (Entourage; TRON: Legacy), and Richard Schiff (The West Wing; Man of Steel).

To me, the other characters outside of Shaun felt phony. It felt as though the writers were trying to make the hospital staff’s relationships with one another exactly like Grey’s Anatomy. There were doctors who were sleeping around with each other, the bosses who fought about every minute detail, and the surgeons who went on frequent power trips. It was too much information vomited onto us in the pilot. The storylines would have been much stronger if the writers would have rolled out the plot lines in a neater and better defined way.

Overall, the pilot did what it was supposed to do: keep me watching. Dr. Shaun Murphy is such an intriguing character, and I can’t wait to see more from him. In the pilot, Shaun saves a young boy’s life after a tragic accident in the airport. He is a genius who knows what to do in every medical situation, but not necessarily how to verbalize it. It asks a tough question, how can we as a society learn to communicate more effectively with one another no matter the “disabilities” we may or may not have?

I’m thrilled to see shows like this and Young Sheldon pushing the boundaries on what stories writers and creators get to tell on network television. These shows will open many doors for creators who come after them as well as the fans who may feel like they’re at a disadvantage in our world because of their disabilities.
